 THE MAIN RELEVANCE OF HAVING A COHESIVE SOCIETY.

Unity and togetherness among citizens is one of the major pillars in achieving country objectives and set

goals . Unified citizens are an assurance too of peaceful co- existence and reduced tribal wars . Hence

there are so many benefits accompanied by having a cohesive and unified citizens. Some of the major

benefits are elaborated below:

. Unified approach in fighting against external threats.

Togetherness among citizens makes it easier for them to fight and get rid of external threats . Divided

citizens are easily attacked hence if we want to face external threats more effectively, unity amongst all

citizens is crucial. We’ve seen some nations fighting against each other . Unity and solidarity of each

nation plays a key role for their success , otherwise disunity amongst them is a guarantee that the nation

looses to the unified nation.

. Inclusiveness and non discrimination.

Unified citizens usually work together regardless of their diverse backgrounds and cultures. For example

in Kenya, there are so many diverse communities each having different cultures and traditions as well as

speaking different languages. But through cohesion, these communities have left their differences

behind and opt to work together as one. Unity amongst them has also helped the voices of the minor

communities to be heard hence there has been a reduction of the marginalized groups too. Cohesion

has also helped in the fight against discrimination amongst citizens on the basis of race , family , skin

color and disability. Through unity , citizens have set aside these differences and have been working

together. Their voices too have been heard unlike earlier on where they were seen as an abomination

hence their voices were never heard before. Job opportunities are offered too to all citizens regardless

of these differences hence each citizen is able to cater for his/her needs effectively.

. Fosters patriotism amongst all citizens.

Cohesion and togetherness among all citizens promotes the love for and the dedication to one’s own

nation. Unity and togetherness are a major pillar in fostering that love and cherish for one’s own nation.

Disunity only tarnishes the love for one’s own nation hence there will be no patriotism amongst citizens.

Hence we should all work together in establishing cohesion and unity amongst all citizens so as to

promote patriotism.

. Fosters national development.

Unity among citizens is a clear indication of a unified approach in performing tasks which contribute to

national development. Solidarity in performing development activities across the country will help

promote development greatly.

Disunity only slows down development or even alters development from taking place at all . A divided

nation will have poor roads , poor social amenities and also low economic development.

. Effective and efficient governance.

For leaders to exercise their duties and tasks effectively, there must be peace amongst the citizens in

their respective jurisdiction. Cohesion brings about peaceful co- existence hence there will be less disturbance created to hinder the smooth performing of duties delegated to leaders. Therefore there

will be accountability and transparency in leadership. This reduces the chances of having civil and tribal

wars as well as it helps foster social , political and economic development.

. Corruption will greatly decrease .

Most corruption cases emerge due to disunity and selfishness amongst citizens. Most of the citizens

taking part in corrupt activities no longer have value for other citizens. They only think of how they will

benefit themselves without the presence of others. Discrimination on the basis of tribe is a major factor

in these corrupt activities. Hence when citizens are united as one, a unified approach in fighting against

corruption will be established therefore reducing and even eradicating it for good .

Corruption has always being a major setback in national development . Most development funds have

always been squandered by some hence development levels have been low for long. The common

citizens have always been suffering due to the increase in these illegal activities.

Hence when all citizens work together, regardless of cultural , religious , family and racial differences,

fighting corruption will be much easier. Therefore the money which used to be squandered and benefit

the bare minimum will return to the common citizens hence development projects will be established

hence fostering social , economic and political development.
